Our verdict
The OLED entry point: 27-inch QHD at 240 Hz with a 0.03 ms response and pixels that switch off for black. It needs a mid-to-high GPU to feed 240 Hz at 1440p, and like any OLED it is not ideal for ten hours a day of static work.
Our analysis
The MSI MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 matches it on size, resolution and refresh, 27-inch QHD at 240 Hz with a 0.03 ms response, so the panel type is the difference: LG's WOLED here, rated at 275 nits and 98.5% DCI-P3, against Samsung's QD-OLED at 99% on the MSI. It is our entry point to OLED gaming, for anyone with a mid-to-high GPU who plays at 1440p.
What stands out
- 240 Hz with a 0.03 ms response. LG's figures; OLED pixels change state far faster than the liquid crystal of an IPS panel.
- Self-lit OLED pixels with DisplayHDR True Black 400. Each pixel switches off on its own, so dark scenes keep real black and bright objects do not light up the area around them.
- A WOLED panel with a glossy finish. LG lists the screen as glossy, not matte anti-glare, so keep lamps and windows from shining straight onto it.
- G-Sync Compatible, FreeSync Premium Pro and 98.5% DCI-P3. It works with either brand of GPU without tearing, and two HDMI 2.1 ports leave room for a console next to the PC.
Where it falls short
- It needs a mid-to-high graphics card to actually feed 240 Hz at 1440p; with a 1080p-class GPU much of that refresh rate goes unused.
- As with every OLED, ten hours a day of static work is not its strength. Leaving the same interface on screen for hours risks image retention, so check what the warranty covers.
Look elsewhere if
- You play shooters and your GPU can hold very high frame rates: the MSI MAG 271QPX pushes the same 27-inch QHD size to 360 Hz on QD-OLED. If your card is built for 1080p, the AOC 24G51F2 gives you a 180 Hz IPS panel that matches it.
It tops our list of the best gaming monitors, and our resolution guide helps you check whether your GPU can feed it.
