Short version: we keep nothing about you unless you hand it over on purpose. Google Analytics counts visits, Google AdSense shows ads, our server does not store your IP address, and if you leave a review or apply to write here we keep your email so we can reply. The detail is below.
To know how many people visit and which guides they read, we use Google Analytics. Google sets a cookie, counts the visit and shows us totals: how many people, from which country, on which pages. It does not show us who you are. We set it up with IP anonymization. The only event of our own we send it is a click on an Amazon link, with the product and the page it was on.
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google Analytics starts without cookies: it only sets them if you say yes in Google’s consent message. If that message does not show up on a page, nothing gets set there.
Google explains what it does with that data in its privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Our own server also keeps a plain tally of how many pages are viewed in each hour of the day, so we know when people are around. Each hour is just two numbers, visits and pages; nothing about you goes with them. To tell a new visit from the next page, your browser keeps a one-word mark while the tab is open (session storage, not a cookie). We also add up visits and pages per day and country. The country comes from the time zone your device reports (for example, America/Mexico_City), not from your IP address, and only the two-letter country code is kept. And we add up, per day, how many times each page of the site was viewed (its address only, such as /blogs/guide-name, without anything after the question mark), so we know which guides are useful. Those are sums per page, not a record of who saw what.
We do not store your IP address. Our server sees it while it answers your request, like every server on the internet, and keeps it in memory for a day at most to slow down anyone sending too many comments, ratings or clicks; it is never written to the database or to our request log.
This site uses Google AdSense to show ads.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads. To opt out of other vendors’ cookies for personalized advertising, visit aboutads.info/choices.
The AdSense script loads on this site even when no ad is showing, so Google can set its cookies from your first visit.
Changing your mind: in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Google asks for your consent with its own message, and you can change your answer later from the “Privacy and cookie settings” link it shows. In US states with their own privacy law, Google’s message gives you a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
How Google uses information from sites that show its ads: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
We set no cookies of our own on the public site. The cookies you may get here are Google’s: the AdSense ones and the Google Analytics ones. You can block them with any privacy extension without breaking anything here.
The site does keep a few things in your own browser (local storage, not cookies): the products you put in the compare bar and the ones you looked at recently, how far you got in each guide (so it can offer to pick up where you left off), which categories you have been looking at, the rating you gave a guide, the private link to edit a review you left, and whether you closed the seasonal banner. Some of it travels to our server and is not stored there: the product numbers from your compare bar and your recently viewed list go along when the site refreshes their names and prices, and the category names go with the request that sorts the homepage. Clear your browser data and it is all gone.
The admin panel keeps its session in Samuel’s browser. It has nothing to do with visitors.
Some forms ask for your email. It is never published, and each one keeps only what is listed here:
Product reviews: your name, your rating, your text and your photos are public; your email is not. It lets us send you the link to edit or delete your own review and tell one person writing five reviews from five people writing one. Before we save your photos, we strip the location and the camera details stored inside them, so nobody can download one and see where it was taken.
Comments on a guide: the comment and the name you choose are public; the email is not.
Guide ratings: we keep your rating (1 to 5) and your email, so the same email counts once per guide and you can change your rating later. Neither your email nor your name is shown next to the rating.
The contributor form: we keep what you send so we can answer you.
Any of that, you can ask us to delete. Write to the address below and it goes.
This site is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Links to Amazon are affiliate links: if you buy through one we earn a commission and you pay exactly the same.
When you click one, you land on Amazon and from that moment Amazon’s privacy policy applies, not ours. Amazon tells us how many sales came through our links; it never tells us who bought what.
Our own server counts those clicks: which product, from which page of the site, in which language, on which day and from which country. Nothing about you goes with it: no IP address, no cookie, no browser details. The country comes from your device’s time zone, not from your IP address, and we keep only its two-letter code. It is how we learn which guides actually help people choose.
The site and its database run on Hostinger servers. Visit counts live with Google. We do not sell or rent what you give us (your email, your reviews, your comments). What Google receives through its ads and Analytics is what the sections above describe.
This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
The person responsible for the data this site collects (the data controller) is Samuel Guerra (Samuel 76), Mixco, Guatemala — contact@gamersconnected.com.
If you want to know what we have about you, or want it deleted, write to us. One person reads that address, and it is me, Samuel.
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will not quietly start collecting something new and leave this page as it was.
