Our analysis

This cable is what turns the Belkin 65 W charger into a working kit, because that charger ships without one, while Nintendo's adapter already brings its own. Belkin rates it at 60 W, so it caps the 65 W charger at 60 W, a ceiling rather than what the console draws.

What stands out

• 60 W of USB-C Power Delivery, per Belkin: above the 54 W Nintendo sets for adapters from other brands, and equal to the 60 W at which ChargerLab saw TV mode start in its dock test.
• 2 m (6.6 ft) long, so you can keep playing in handheld mode while it charges from an outlet that is not right next to you, on a couch or in bed.
• Braided, and good for 350,000 bends and 20,000 plug-ins according to Belkin's internal testing, with a 2-year warranty.
• USB-C on both ends, so it also charges the phones, tablets and laptops Belkin lists.

Where it falls short

Belkin certifies it for USB 2.0, so treat it as a charging cable, not a video one: it does not replace the HDMI cable that carries the picture from the dock to the TV. And 60 W is its ceiling: a bigger charger will not push more power through it. Belkin does not state that Nintendo licenses it.

Look elsewhere if

You already have a spare USB-C cable rated for 60 W and only need the power: then the Belkin charger can use the cable you own, and Nintendo's adapter is sold with its cable, so neither needs this one.
