Our verdict
One wired headset for a PS5 and a PC: a 3.5 mm cable, 240 g and a cardioid mic you bend toward your mouth, with no dongle to move and no battery to charge. The 7.1 surround is for Windows 11 only, per Razer. If you want no cable, the BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed is the wireless step up.
Our analysis
Next to the Razer BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed, the V2 X keeps the same 50 mm driver size and drops the wireless part: it is a 3.5 mm cable, at 240 g against 270 g for the V3 X. That makes it the headset to share between a console and a PC with no dongle to move and no battery to charge; the V3 X is for when you want to get up from the desk without a cable.
What stands out
- One 3.5 mm plug. Razer lists PC, Mac, PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and phones, all through that single connection, so it moves between devices without pairing anything.
- 240 g, per Razer. Lighter than the V3 X and well under the 320 g of the BlackShark V2 Pro.
- A cardioid HyperClear mic. Razer describes a pickup pattern that tapers off toward the back and sides, on a bendable boom you place at your mouth, with a mute switch on the earcup.
- Closed earcups with memory foam cushions. Razer lists passive noise cancellation, which means the cups block sound by covering your ears; there is no active system.
Where it falls short
- The 7.1 surround sound only works on Windows 11, according to Razer; on PS5, Xbox or Switch that layer is not there.
- The mic bends, but Razer does not list it as detachable, unlike the V3 X and the V2 Pro.
- The cable is 1.3 m long, so the device it plugs into has to be within arm's reach.
Look elsewhere if
- You want no cable at all: the V3 X HyperSpeed adds 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth with up to 70 hours of battery. If you compete in shooters, the V2 Pro brings a detachable HyperClear Super Wideband mic and wireless.
It is the headset in what you need to play GTA 6 on PS5, and the wireless models are ranked in the 5 best gaming headsets of 2026.
