Our verdict
For 1080p at high settings: 8 GB of GDDR7, DLSS 4 and a 199 mm dual-fan card that fits compact cases, on a 550 W power supply. At 1440p its 8 GB of VRAM runs short in heavy games, so pick the 5060 Ti 16GB if that is your resolution.
Our analysis
Set it beside the ASUS Prime RTX 5070 and the numbers explain the split: 8 GB of GDDR7 against 12, 145 W against 250, a 550 W supply recommendation against 750, and 199 mm of length against 304. The 5070 is sized for 1440p; this WINDFORCE is the card we point to for a 1080p build at high settings that you want to leave alone for years.
What stands out
- GDDR7 and a 2512 MHz boost clock. That is the step over the RTX 5050, which uses GDDR6.
- DLSS 4 and 4th-gen ray tracing. DLSS renders at a lower resolution and rebuilds the image, which leaves room to turn ray tracing on at 1080p.
- Just 199 mm long. Short enough for compact cases, with space left for cables and airflow around it; check your case's limit with our Will it fit? tool if it is a small one.
- 145 W and a 550 W PSU recommendation. You can build around a mid-range power supply, so the rest of the PC does not have to grow to feed the GPU.
Where it falls short
- The ceiling is the 8 GB of VRAM. The card can run 1440p, but heavy new games will push you to lower texture quality, and faster memory does not raise that limit.
- It is a 1080p card first, and it makes the most sense next to a 1080p monitor at 144 or 180 Hz.
Look elsewhere if
- Your monitor is 1440p: the ASUS Dual RTX 5060 Ti 16GB doubles the VRAM to 16 GB, which is what heavy textures need at that resolution, and ASUS recommends a 550 W supply for it. If you mostly play esports titles on a tight budget, the PNY RTX 5050 is the cheaper way into the same generation.
We rank it against five other cards in our graphics card guide, and it is the GPU inside our best value gaming PC build.
