ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (RTX 5080, 3K OLED 120 Hz)

Our analysis

ASUS sells both ends of this range. The ASUS TUF Gaming F16 pairs an RTX 4050 Laptop with 8 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a 16-inch 1920 x 1200 screen at 144 Hz. The G14 moves to an RTX 5080 Laptop, 32 GB, 2 TB and a 2880 x 1800 OLED at 120 Hz, in a 14-inch body. On paper the TUF has the higher refresh rate; the rest of the spec sheet, and the price, belong to the G14.

What stands out

• RTX 5080 Laptop GPU with a Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The highest graphics tier among the laptops we compare, in a machine you can carry to class or on a trip.
• 2880 x 1800 OLED at 120 Hz. More pixels than the 2560 x 1600 panel of the Legion Pro 5, on a 14-inch screen.
• 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD. Room for a large library from day one, twice the 1 TB of the Legion Pro 5.
• 14-inch aluminum chassis. The pick if you travel, teach or stream away from home and want the smallest body on our list.

Where it falls short

• The price is about the size: a 16-inch machine like the Legion Pro 5 weighs 2.3 kg per Lenovo and costs less, with an RTX 5060. If the laptop will sit on a desk, you are paying for portability you will not use.
• The screen tops out at 120 Hz, below the 165 Hz of the Legion Pro 5.

Look elsewhere if

• Portability is not the priority: the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 16 OLED gives you a 16-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED at 165 Hz with an RTX 5060. If you want the most hardware for the money, the Lenovo LOQ 15 is our value pick with an RTX 5060 on a 144 Hz screen.
