ARCTIC P12 Pro PST 120mm case fans, 5-pack

Our verdict

The default answer for case airflow: five pressure-optimized PWM fans rated up to 6.9 mmH2O, all controlled from one header through the PST chain. Set a fan curve so they do not sit at 3000 rpm, and it is the first upgrade for a case that shipped with a single fan.

Our analysis

Behind a front dust filter or a radiator, static pressure is the figure that counts, and here it is 6.9 mmH2O against 1.53 for the Thermalright TL-C12C X3, four and a half times as much. ARCTIC also puts five fans in the box to Thermalright's three, with 77 CFM per fan against 66.17.

What stands out

  • High static pressure. At 6.9 mmH2O they push air through what usually blocks it, like a radiator or a front dust filter, so it actually reaches your components.
  • Five in one box. Enough for a real front intake and rear exhaust in a mid tower, the fix our temperature guide recommends before buying a new cooler.
  • PST daisy chain. One motherboard header controls all five, with no splitters to hunt down.
  • Fluid dynamic bearings, no RGB. The money goes into moving air, not lighting.

Where it falls short

  • They reach 3000 rpm, against 1800 rpm for the P12 PWM PST, and a fan that fast is heard; a fan curve in the BIOS decides how often they get there, so set one.
  • Current adds up. The spec sheet lists 0.33 A per fan, so five on one header pull 1.65 A, while many boards still rate a fan header at 1 A. If yours does, add the ARCTIC 10-port SATA hub, which feeds up to 1 A per port straight from the power supply.

Look elsewhere if

Your motherboard's headers are weak and you do not want a hub: the ARCTIC P12 PWM PST is the slower version, at 1800 rpm and 2.2 mmH2O; check its current per fan on ARCTIC's sheet against your header. If your case takes 140 mm fans, the P14 Pro PST lists 110 CFM at a 2500 rpm maximum, against 77 CFM at 3000 rpm here.
