Our verdict
The safe pick, not the strong one: modest static pressure and very low current per fan, so all five can run off an old 1 A header. The P12 Pro beats it on pressure and airflow, so choose this only if your board's headers are weak and you do not want a hub.
Our analysis
Against a single be quiet! Pure Wings 3, each fan here is rated a little higher, 56.3 CFM against 49.9 and 2.2 mmH2O against 1.45, with a fluid dynamic bearing instead of a rifle one, and there are five in the box instead of one. ARCTIC's own P12 Pro outdoes it on air, so the classic's real strength today is how little current it draws: 0.1 A per fan, so all five chained together stay at 0.5 A. That makes it the safe pick for older motherboards.
What stands out
- Safe on old 1 A headers. A full chain of five sits at half of the long-standing 1 A header standard, with no hub required.
- PST daisy chain. One motherboard header controls all five, which keeps cabling short and fan curves simple.
- A wide speed range. From 200 to 1800 rpm, so the motherboard can keep them slow at idle and push them under load.
- Fluid dynamic bearing and no RGB. Plain fans: what you get is airflow, not lighting.
Where it falls short
- The newer P12 Pro PST beats it on pressure and airflow: 6.9 mmH2O of static pressure against 2.2, and 77 CFM against 56.3. That is more than three times the pressure and about 37% more air.
- Prices move between the two, so compare both before you buy; on specs, the older model's argument is its low current draw.
Look elsewhere if
- Your board has modern headers or you are fine adding a hub: the ARCTIC P12 Pro PST is the stronger five-pack, and the ARCTIC Case Fan Hub takes the current off the header with ten outputs fed by SATA. If you only need to fill three empty mounts, the Thermalright TL-C12C X3 lists 66.17 CFM per fan.
