Logitech G305 Lightspeed wireless mouse, top view

Our verdict

The entry wireless pick: a HERO sensor, LIGHTSPEED wireless and up to 250 hours on one AA battery. At 99 g it is not ultralight and polling stops at 1000 Hz, but as a first gaming mouse it is the one I would start with.

Our analysis

At 99 g it weighs twice what the Razer Viper V4 Pro does (49 g), and its polling stops at 1000 Hz against the Razer's 8000. What the G305 offers back is battery: up to 250 hours from one AA, against 180 hours from the Viper's rechargeable cell. It is the wireless mouse we point first-time buyers to, with the same LIGHTSPEED wireless Logitech puts in its higher-end mice.

What stands out

  • LIGHTSPEED wireless. The same 2.4 GHz link as Logitech's PRO mice, with one less cord crossing a small desk.
  • 250 hours on one AA battery. At two hours a day, that is about four months before you think about a swap, which is why it suits a gift or a mouse you carry between home and campus.
  • HERO sensor up to 12000 DPI. A sensitivity range that covers the low settings shooter players use and the high ones some people prefer on the desktop.
  • Symmetrical shape with 6 buttons. The extra buttons give you room for push-to-talk or a quick bind.

Where it falls short

  • At 99 g it is not ultralight: there is about 40 g more to move on every flick than with a 60 g mouse.
  • Polling tops out at 1000 Hz, with no 8K option.
  • There is no rechargeable battery, and the USB receiver takes up a port, which you will feel on a laptop that only has two.

Look elsewhere if

  • You play competitive shooters most of the time: the Logitech G PRO X Superlight 2 drops to 60 g, adds 8000 Hz polling and charges over USB-C. If you want a button for every skill in an MMO, the G502 X Plus brings 13 programmable controls.

We compare it with the rest in best gaming mice 2026, and it is the mouse we chose for our small-room gaming setup.
