Our verdict
A budget controller for PC worth buying: Hall effect sticks and triggers, which use magnets instead of the potentiometers behind most drift, 1000 Hz polling and two remappable back bumpers. Bluetooth is Android only and there is no charging dock.
Our analysis
The question this pad answers is whether you need to pay for back buttons. The Ultimate 2C has two, L4 and R4; the Xbox Elite Series 2 Core lists none in its box, and spends its price on adjustable stick tension, 3-step hair trigger locks and Xbox support. If you play on PC and want extra buttons without paying for that tuning, this one covers it.
What stands out
- Hall effect sticks and triggers. They read position with magnets instead of the potentiometers that our stick drift guide explains are the usual cause of drift.
- 1000 Hz polling over 2.4G and over cable. The same rate on the receiver and on the wire, per 8BitDo.
- Two remappable L4/R4 back bumpers. 8BitDo lets you map them on the controller itself, without software; put jump or reload there and your thumb can stay on the right stick.
- Xbox layout that Windows recognizes on its own. Plug in the receiver and play, with no driver to install first.
Where it falls short
- Bluetooth only pairs with Android, so on a PC you use the 2.4G receiver or the cable.
- No charging dock, and 8BitDo lists standard rumble, not the adaptive triggers or HD haptics of a DualSense.
Look elsewhere if
- You want more tuning and wider platform support: the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 moves to TMR sticks, lets you switch the triggers between Hall and tactile, and lists PC, Steam, Apple and Android. If you play competitively and want the highest polling rate, the GameSir G7 Pro 8K goes to 8000 Hz.
We rank it against the other pads in the best gaming controllers of 2026.
