Our verdict
The value pick among the controllers we compare: TMR sticks, two back paddles, a charging dock and support for PC, Steam, Apple and Android. It has no official Xbox or PlayStation console support, so it is a PC and mobile pad first.
Our analysis
What the extra money buys over the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C: TMR sticks instead of Hall, triggers you can switch between Hall and tactile, Bluetooth that works on PC, Steam and Apple instead of Android only, and a charging dock in the box. The two back buttons and the 1000 Hz polling over 2.4G stay the same, so if you only play on a Windows PC and do not need the dock, the 2C covers the basics for less.
What stands out
- TMR sticks. Our stick drift breakdown explains how TMR reads position magnetically, like Hall, without the potentiometers behind most drift.
- Switchable triggers. A physical switch flips them between Hall and tactile, so you pick the travel per game.
- Three connection modes. 2.4G, Bluetooth and USB. The 2.4G link uses the included receiver, which can sit in the dock, and polls at 1000 Hz.
- Paddles and profiles. Both back paddles can be remapped, and saved profiles hold your stick curves and macros, so you can jump or reload without taking your thumb off the right stick.
Where it falls short
- There is no official Xbox or PlayStation support, so treat it as a PC and mobile controller first.
- It has standard rumble, without the adaptive triggers and haptics of a DualSense, and the RGB ring is only for looks.
Look elsewhere if
- You mainly play on PS5: the DualSense Edge keeps haptics and adaptive triggers and adds swappable stick modules plus trigger travel with three stops. If competitive PC shooters are your whole diet, the GameSir G7 Pro 8K goes to 8000 Hz polling with second-generation TMR sticks.
We rank the Ultimate 2 against the rest in the best gaming controllers of 2026.
