Our verdict
The pick for fast fiber and a lot of devices: tri-band Wi-Fi 7 with a 6 GHz band left clear for your gaming PC or console, and 2.5 Gbps ports so a multi-gig plan is not bottlenecked. More router than you need on a plan of one gigabit or less.
Our analysis
TP-Link rates it for the same 186 m² as the cheaper Archer BE230, so on paper this one does not reach further. What it adds is a third band at 6 GHz and a BE9300 rating against BE3600: room to keep a console or a gaming PC on a band of its own while the rest of the house shares the other two.
What stands out
- A 6 GHz band you can keep for gaming. With three bands (2.4, 5 and 6 GHz), you can reserve 6 GHz for the console or gaming PC and let every other device crowd the remaining two.
- 2.5 Gbps ports. If you pay for more than a gigabit, 1 Gbps ports waste part of it; here the router stops being the bottleneck.
- Gaming QoS. Quality-of-service settings let you give gaming traffic priority when everyone is online at once.
Where it falls short
If your plan tops out at a gigabit or below, it is more router than you need: the 2.5 Gbps ports and the extra band only pay off with fast fiber and a busy house. And a single router does not fix distance on its own; a room far from it may be better served by a cable or a mesh system.
Look elsewhere if
Several people share a normal connection: the ASUS TUF Gaming BE6500 is our pick for most homes, with Wi-Fi 7 up to 6.5 Gbps, four 2.5 Gbps ports and Game Accelerator prioritization. If your problem is dead zones in a large house, the TP-Link Deco BE5000 mesh covers up to 613 m² with three nodes working as one network.
We weigh Wi-Fi 7 against a plain cable in best gaming router 2026, and every router we cover is in our gaming routers category.
