Our verdict
A 240 mm liquid cooler with ARGB and brackets for current AMD and Intel sockets. It makes sense in a case with a low roof or where a tower would crowd your RAM; if your case takes a 360, compare it with the 360 version first.
Our analysis
Even a single tower like the Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE stands 148 mm over the socket; this 240 mm all-in-one puts only a pump head there and moves the fans to a radiator. That is where it earns its place: a case with little clearance above the motherboard, or a build where a tower would crowd the memory slots. Thermalright rates it at 28 dB against 25.6 dB for the tower.
What stands out
- Heat leaves through the radiator. A 240 mm radiator with two 120 mm fans carries CPU heat to wherever you mount it, and mounted as exhaust it sends that heat out of the case.
- Nothing tall over the socket. Only the pump head sits on the CPU, so a low side panel or tall RAM stops being a fitting problem.
- Copper cold plate and ARGB pump head. Copper where it touches the processor, and lighting on the part you see through the glass.
- Brackets for AM4, AM5, LGA1700, LGA1851 and LGA115x/1200. Current AMD and Intel sockets are covered in the box, so it moves with you between platforms.
Where it falls short
- If your case has room for a 360 mm radiator, the 360 version of this same cooler adds another 120 mm of radiator, so compare the two before you buy.
- It has a pump, a part an air tower does not have and cannot lose.
- It is rated at 28 dB, a bit above the 25.6 dB of Thermalright's air towers.
Look elsewhere if
- Your case has a 360 mm mount: take the Frozen Notte 360 ARGB V2. If your case has the height for a tower and your chip is up to 125 W, the Peerless Assassin 120 SE is our air pick, with no pump.
We place it among the cooling steps in safe CPU and GPU temps in 2026, and you can compare every cooler in our CPU coolers category.
