Our verdict
The esports keyboard: analog optical switches with actuation from 0.1 to 4.0 mm, Rapid Trigger, Snap Tap and 8000 Hz polling for competitive shooters. It is wired and not hot-swappable, and if you do not play competitively you are paying for speed you will not use.
Our analysis
The Corsair K70 PRO TKL reaches the same numbers, 8000 Hz polling and actuation from 0.1 to 4.0 mm in a wired TKL, so the difference is how the switch reads the key: Razer's second-gen analog optical switches here, magnetic Hall effect switches on the Corsair. The Huntsman adds Snap Tap and a dial for changing actuation on the fly. It is the keyboard we recommend for esports; if you do not compete, most of that speed goes unused.
What stands out
- 8000 Hz polling. The keyboard reports to the PC up to 8000 times per second, against 1000 on a typical board, which shortens the wait between your press and the game registering it.
- Snap Tap. When you hold two opposite movement keys, the last one pressed wins, so a strafe changes direction without releasing the first key.
- Second-gen analog optical switches with Rapid Trigger. Set a very short actuation on your movement keys, and Rapid Trigger resets a key as soon as it starts to rise.
- Dedicated dial for sensitivity. You change actuation without opening Synapse, useful between rounds.
Where it falls short
- It is wired and there is no wireless version, and the switches are not hot-swappable.
- If you play casually, you are paying for speed you will not use.
Look elsewhere if
- You want the same adjustable actuation plus an on-board screen: the SteelSeries Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 gives you 40 levels between 0.1 and 4.0 mm and an OLED screen. If you would rather be able to change switches, the Redragon K617 Fizz is a 60% board with 3- and 5-pin hot-swap sockets.
We line it up against the other finalists in the five best gaming keyboards of 2026, and the whole range is in our keyboards category.
